BuildLabs Raises the Bar for Quality Windows in Custom Homebuilding

May 27, 2024

Bridgehampton, NY - May 27, 2024 - When it comes to windows, not all are made equal. As experts in global construction, BuildLabs notes that countries like Germany, Poland, Greece and the Netherlands are world-renowned for producing the best windows. After reviewing dozens of companies across the continent, the Bridgehampton-based custom homebuilder has teamed up with a private manufacturer in Germany that has been producing world-class windows for more than 70 years.

“Windows from other regions are substandard. As custom homebuilders dedicated to quality and craftsmanship, it is worth importing these windows as its durable glass meets our client’s standards for solutions, aesthetics, and longevity,” says Punit Chugh, cofounder of BuildLabs, LLC.

Similar to BuildLabs’ decision to opt for cellulose insulation across its portfolio, the company’s decision to partner exclusively with a European manufacturer is due to the chosen maker’s high-energy tempered glass. “The level of quality and precision engineering is very high in Europe,” says Chugh. “The whole industry is always pushing for more efficiency compared to here. The government has prioritized and incentivized manufacturers to save energy and protect the environment, and has pushed industry to do better.”

Europe has stringent building codes and energy efficiency standards, driving the development of high-performance windows. As a result, European windows are often considered superior to those made in the United States or elsewhere due to several key factors.

Most notably, European window imports are known for energy efficiency, as they typically have superior insulation properties, often featuring triple glazing and advanced thermal break technologies, which significantly reduce heat transfer. European manufacturers also often use high-quality materials, such as engineered wood, aluminum, and uPVC, which enhance durability and performance.

“We are integrating the best custom windows and doors in our production process to make sure everything is done to the custom project’s specifications.” The company also offers a warranty of 100 years on its projects.

BuildLabs prides itself on its use of timber window framing for the interior side, as well as aluminum cladding for the exterior to ensure a water resistant facade. “The standard exterior timber window can easily deteriorate due to weather, but we keep the timber for the indoor portion to ensure warmth and aesthetics,” explains Chugh. This is just one example of the attention to detail that comes from BuildLabs, when building a custom home from start to finish.

The advanced functionality of European windows pays dividends. The windows usually have a tilt-and-turn mechanism, allowing them to open inwards for easy cleaning and better ventilation, offering greater versatility compared to traditional U.S. window designs. Equally important, European windows as they often feature advanced sealing systems that provide better weatherproofing and sound insulation.

Last but not least, these windows win at aesthetics. They offer a wide range of customization options in terms of design, colors, and finishes, appealing to different architectural styles and personal preferences. As BuildLabs can cater to any style house–be it a traditional colonial revival, a classic Gambrel-style roof, or a modern contemporary box–ensuring the windows match the aesthetic plays a crucial look in the finished project.
